State Representative Dan Swanson, along with Birth to Five Illinois, will be hosting a 'Readers Make Leaders' family literacy event this Saturday. The event aims to promote the importance of literacy and provide an opportunity for families to engage in educational activities.

"Teaching a child to read is one of the greatest gifts you can give," said Swanson. "Literacy opens so many doors and so many opportunities for our children and grandchildren."

The family-friendly event will take place at Swanson's district office in Woodhull from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is free of charge. No RSVP is required. Attendees can expect a variety of activities such as kids crafts, books, games, and refreshments. This event is the first in a series of family literacy events planned for the 71st District.

Swanson expressed his gratitude to the partner agencies supporting the event, including Abilities Plus Child Care Resource and Referral, Clover Library, Early Head Start, and the Regional Office of Education.

Residents of the 71st District can stay updated on the General Assembly news and upcoming events by visiting Rep. Swanson's legislative website at repswanson.com.

The 'Readers Make Leaders' family literacy event is an excellent opportunity for families in the community to come together and promote the importance of reading.
