Birth to Five to Share Study Finding with Community

Original coverage by Angela Ridgway for the Daily Record.

Birth to Five Illinois is hosting a meet and greet, Sept. 25 at the Robinson Public Library.

Members of the regional team and council members with Birth to Five will be on hand to discuss the findings from the assessments recently completed that evaluated the needs in the community.

The study looked at children in the area to see if there were enough day care spots open for all of the children as well as early education and care programs and services.

In July, the team announced their findings which concluded there are 1093 children under the age of six in Crawford County. There are 485 of those children who have both parents working outside the home.  There are 279 child care spots open to the public.

Even though the team knows there are some issues they need to identify accurately, this is where community feedback will help them move forward.

The state funded program is to identify what each community needs and open up grants that would help offer more the community needs.

The meet and greet will be set up as a World Cafe, a structured conversational process where groups of people discuss a topic at several small tables, such as in a cafe, at 4:30 p.m.

Everyone is welcome to attend the discussion.
