Region 31 Reports

Early Childhood Regional Needs Assessment highlights data and stories from community members across the Region and includes strengths, family- and community-identified needs, and recommendations for how to make our local Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) services more accessible and equitable. 

Addendum includes additional community feedback captured as our Regional Team and Action and Family Councils shared our initial report’s findings throughout the Region.  

Action Plan is a living community document that focuses on the top priorities from our Region’s initial ECEC needs assessment. Council members developed Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound (SMART) goals for each recommendation and plans and timelines to fulfill them. 

Early Childhood Needs Assessment: Focus on Mental & Behavioral Health features stories from families and ECEC providers about the challenges and successes they have accessing Mental and Behavioral Health services.

Meet Your Regional Team!

David Quiroz

David Quiroz (he/him) is the Regional Council Manager for Region 31. When David was a young child, he moved to Mexico with his family for about five years. There he became fluent in Spanish and was able to experience life from a different perspective. David learned to appreciate diversity, the impact of a good education, and most importantly, the significance of parent/family involvement in child development. David earned a double major in Early Childhood Education and Spanish at Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois. During his studies, he traveled to Latin America to visit schools and continue learning about different cultures and educational landscapes. After graduating, David taught bilingual preschool for seven years before transitioning to work in family engagement. Since then, he has facilitated several different parenting programs in a variety of settings and started programs in multiple districts, focusing on engaging parents and strengthening the school and home connection. David is most passionate about seeking programs and opportunities for fathers to engage in their child's development. David lives in Aurora with his wife, Janelle, and their three children, Rubi, Frida, and Joaquin.

Alicia Hann

Alicia Hann (she/her) is the Family & Community Engagement Specialist for Region 31. She is passionate about bringing people together for collaboration in supporting families with young children. Previously, Alicia was a Bilingual Family Navigator at a nonprofit organization that helped families navigate through the complex system of finding specialized therapy services. She especially loves working with families that are Spanish-speaking in the community.

Alicia also brings her many years of experience as a child care director. Early Childhood Education has always been close to her heart. She welcomed families from a variety of cultural, social, and economic backgrounds with the purpose of providing their children a safe place to learn and play.  Alicia values self-improvement and compassionate action. She is often seen writing in her journals and planners, or going on a community adventure with her family.

 

Liliana Guzman

Liliana Guzman (she/her) is the Region 31 Administrative Support. Liliana has worked in the education sector for over seven years. While in working in education, Liliana performed many duties, including teacher assistant, administrative assistant, and educator. During this time, she enjoyed using her skills to help the community and her students. 

Liliana holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Leadership and is working towards an MBA. She also received a Transitional Bilingual Educator License. Liliana was born in Jalisco, Mexico, and raised in Aurora, Illinois. She is a proud mother of two young children and currently lives in Aurora with her family. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, as well as visiting new places.

Informes de la Región 31

La Evaluación de necesidades regionales de la primera infancia destaca datos e historias de miembros de la comunidad en toda la región e incluye fortalezas, necesidades identificadas por la familia y la comunidad, y recomendaciones sobre cómo hacer que nuestros servicios locales de educación y atención de la primera infancia (ECEC) sean más accesibles y equitativos. 

La Adenda incluyen comentarios adicionales de la comunidad capturados cuando nuestro Equipo Regional y los Comités de Acción y Familiar compartieron las conclusiones de nuestro informe inicial en toda la región. 

El Plan de acción es un documento comunitario vivo que se centra en las principales prioridades de la evaluación inicial de necesidades de ECEC de nuestra región. Los miembros del consejo desarrollaron metas específicas, mensurables, alcanzables, relevantes y con plazos determinados (SMART) para cada recomendación y planes y cronogramas para cumplirlas.  

La Evaluación de necesidades de la primera infancia: enfoque en la salud mental y conductual presenta historias de familias y proveedores de ECEC sobre los desafíos y éxitos que tienen al acceder a los servicios de salud mental y conductual.

David Quiroz

David Quiroz (él/lo) es la Gerente Regional del Comité para la Región 31. Cuando David era un niño pequeño, se mudó a México con su familia durante unos cinco años. Allí aprendió español con fluidez y pudo experimentar la vida desde una perspectiva diferente. David aprendió a apreciar la diversidad, el impacto de una buena educación y, lo más importante, la importancia de la participación de los padres y la familia en el desarrollo infantil. David obtuvo una especialización doble en Educación Infantil Temprana y Español en la Universidad Millikin en Decatur, Illinois. Durante sus estudios, viajó a América Latina para visitar escuelas y seguir aprendiendo sobre diferentes culturas y paisajes educativos. Después de graduarse, David enseñó preescolar bilingüe durante siete años antes de pasar a trabajar más con familias. Desde entonces, ha facilitado varios programas diferentes para padres en una variedad de entornos y ha iniciado programas en distritos múltiples, centrándose en involucrar a los padres y fortalecer la conexión entre la escuela y el hogar. A David le apasiona buscar programas y oportunidades para que los padres participen en el desarrollo de sus hijos. David vive en Aurora con su esposa, Janelle, y sus tres hijos, Rubí, Frida y Joaquín.

Alicia Hann

Alicia Hann (ella/la) es la Especialista en Participación Familiar y Comunitaria de la Región 31. Le apasiona reunir a las personas para que colaboren en el apoyo a familias con niños pequeños. Anteriormente, Alicia fue navegadora familiar bilingüe en una organización sin fines de lucro que ayudaba a las familias a navegar el complejo sistema empleado encontrar servicios de terapia especializada. Le encantaba especialmente trabajar con las familias de habla hispana en la comunidad.

Alicia también aporta sus muchos años de experiencia como directora de cuidado infantil. La educación de la primera infancia siempre ha estado cerca de su corazón. Dio la bienvenida a familias de una variedad de orígenes culturales, sociales y económicos con el propósito de brindarles a sus hijos un lugar seguro para aprender y jugar. Alicia valora la superación personal y la acción compasiva. A menudo se la ve escribiendo en su diarios y planificadores, o emprendiendo una aventura comunitaria con su familia.

 

Liliana Guzman

Liliana Guzman (ella/la) es el Asistente Administrativo de la Región 31. Liliana ha trabajado en el sector educativo durante más de siete años. Mientras trabajaba en educación, Liliana desempeñó muchas funciones, incluidas las de asistente de maestra, asistente administrativa y educadora. Durante este tiempo, disfrutó aplicando sus habilidades para ayudar a la comunidad y a sus estudiantes.

Liliana tiene una licenciatura en Administración y Liderazgo Empresarial y está trabajando para obtener un MBA. También recibió una Licencia de Educadora Bilingüe de Transición. Liliana nació en Jalisco, México, y se crió en Aurora, Illinois. Es una orgullosa madre de dos niños pequeños y en la actualidad vive en Aurora con su familia. En su tiempo libre, disfruta pasar tiempo con su familia y amigos, así como visitar nuevos lugares.
